Is it possible to replace the HPCL2630 to 6N137?

Is it possible to replace the HPCL2630 to 6N137?

Postby charv3x » Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:30 pm

Dear Sir,
I'm a very newbie in this electronic matter, having limited knowledge about electronics cause some problem to me while experimenting for a new kind of subject, particularly for CNC in DIY way.
I'm interested to built 4-axis DIY CNC milling machine for my hobby and future entrepreneur work, and I choose this 4-axis Hi-speed Opto-isolated interface, but there're some problem arise, such as:
1. In Indonesia (Surabaya in East Java is my home town), it's quite difficult to find parts like the HPCL2630 (dual-channel hi-speed optocoupler) and SIL Resistor Network. Is it possible to modify the schematic, using the 6N137 (Chinese-manufactured, single channel version of HPCL2630 and also replacing the SIL Resistor Network into the common resistor? I would like to show you my draft if you don't mind, for correction if there're mistakes. :)
2. the 6N137 has another volt input (pin 7), does it has to be connected to pin 8 too if I used the 6N137 instead of HPCL2630? :?:
3. In the datasheet, the pin 5 and 8 of the optocoupler were suggested to be bypass with ceramic capacitor about 0.1uf, but in the original schematic this capacitors were not applied. Is there any difference / improvement if I add the capacitors as suggested?
4. Resistor networks are hard to find in my local area :( , so I would like to revert it into common resistors, is it possible? is there any flaws or degradation occurs if I change it from the RN to regular resistors?
5. In the original schematic, all resistors were rated in 1/8W, may I use the 1/4W resistors instead? 1/8W types were also hard to find.
Many thanks in advance, I'll be waiting for inputs from the PMinMo forum.

Regards,
CharV3x

you can use a 6n137 instead of the hpcl26xx connect pin 7 to pin 8. Individual resistors can be used instead of the sils.

Thank you very much for your reply Sir, I'll revise my modification on 6N137, pin 7 and 8 to be connected.
What about the ceramic capacitors for each optocoupler? should I add it or it would run just fine even without the capacitors?
Thank you.

No you need cap's on each pin 8 .

Wow..that's quick.
Thank you, I'll do that, as in your information and suggestion, according to the datasheet of 6N137.
Hopefully, next month I could assemble it together as a modified interface board.
Time to search the stepper motors, and reliable driver board for the stepper motor.

Hi Phil,
What is the best DIY for working with Mardus Kreutzs unipolar driver, 4 axis interface or 4 axis opto?
Is linistepper v4 compatible with DIY 4 axis opto interface?
@charv3x slam knal, gmn proyknya dah jadi?

My interfaces don't work with the MK uni at the IDC level. I don't know about the opto and the linistepper.

Well, I'll post the result of my personal experiment after all off it assembled and works, perhaps it could help others.
Recently I also found another opto-interface from sunrom.com, they sold the board but there's detailed schematic which we could see.
It was using 6N137 and PC817.
